Professor Cecilia Chan has become a member of the Advisory Group supporting Hong Kong’s Education Bureau in advancing its Digital Blueprint for AI Literacy.

Professor Chan noted that the launch of the AI for Empowering Learning and Teaching Funding Programme reflects a strong and forward-looking vision as articulated by Dr Jeff Sze, Under Secretary for Education and Chairperson of the Steering Committee on Strategic Development of Digital Education. The programme underscores the importance of positioning AI as a core driver of digital transformation, while empowering teachers and supporting students’ AI literacy across all subject areas.

The initiative is backed by HK$2 billion from the Quality Education Fund, including HK$500 million dedicated to the three-year funding programme. This investment provides schools with significant opportunities to adopt AI responsibly, enhance teaching effectiveness, and better prepare learners for an AI-driven future.

Professor Chan expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to this important work alongside policymakers, educators, and education leaders. She emphasised that the initiative’s focus extends beyond technology adoption to prioritise educational impact, inclusion, and quality, and looks forward to supporting the continued development of AI literacy in Hong Kong’s education system.
