On 14th February 2025, Prof. Cecilia Chan served as the Keynote Speaker at the Hong Kong Association of the Heads of Secondary Schools’ Self-Regulated Learning Joint-School Development Day held at Po Kok Secondary School in Tseung Kwan O. Prof. Chan’s talk, titled “Empowering Self-Regulated Learning in the AI Era”, dug into AI in education, including its impact on student learning, development, and the rising need of AI literacy and strategies for policy making. Her AI in Education Lab team also presented demos showcasing their research on AI-powered educational applications and robots.

Over 800 participants from secondary schools in Hong Kong, including school principals, vice-principals, and teachers attended the Development Day. They participated in several small-group discussions, sharing their insights on the changing educational landscape and how both students and teachers can effectively prepare for the challenges and opportunities presented by AI.

Overall, the event was highly successful, promoting meaningful discussions and insights regarding the future of AI education.
